INSPIRING your supergirl to dream big!

My name is Jennifer Jordan-Strain, aka "Bench Press Betty", and my dream was to create a summer camp that would empower and inspire young girls to want to dream big as they grow up. In the summers of 2023 & 2024 those dreams came true! We had many female speakers come in and share their stories to the girls of how they came to love their profession. We also did smaller group activities throughout the day that focused on teaching valuable life skills to the girls. Those  skills included teamwork, problem solving, confidence building, leadership, people skills, among many others. Each day spent in the camp with the girls was truly amazing and I hope it inspired them to chase their future dreams! 

In the fall of 2024, I discovered I had a large tumor in my chest that turned out to be an aggressive form of lymphoma cancer. Over the course of the next year 2025, thanks so the amazing team at MD Anderson Houston, I was able to undergo extensive hospitalized chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments that helped me beat the cancer. The aftermath however of the entire experience and treatments have forever changed me, and the healing journey has proven to be far more longer a process than we'd originally hoped. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart and after lengthy discussions with our Supergirl team, close friends, volunteers, and family that we have decided to suspend any future camp events.
